Our English as a Second Language ministry offers Conversational English class for adults in the Tigard area. Most of our students speak Spanish, but we have also served persons whose first language is Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese, Hungarian , Arabic, Tamil, and Persian. Our goal is to help our students feel comfortable and capable speaking English.

Our volunteer tutors do not need to speak another language - all our activities are conducted in English as one method to encourage our students to communicate.

Teaching experience is not necessary or even particularly helpful. We have excellent materials and experienced teachers to support our volunteers.

During the 2009-2010 school year our class meets on Monday and Wednesday from 12:30-2:00pm. beginning September 23rd. Our work is supervised and coordinated by Portland Community College.
